My dissertation inquires into the activity of thinking.  Thinking leads humans to reflective recognition of themselves and their situatedness in the world and in societies.  I am particularly interested in how thinking takes place and how, during thinking, humans can critically encounter things they and their society usually presuppose.  Thinking is valuable and I also consider how humans can cultivate thinking.  I primarily persue these issues in dialogue with Heidegger, Arendt, Thoreau, and Plato.
