"Technological progress, artistic solutions? Can art provide a way to respond to technology?”
Keynote address: Andrew J. Mitchell (Emory University)
The University of Kentucky Philosophy Graduate Student Association invites abstract submissions that focus on the philosophy of art and/or technology, broadly construed. Special consideration will be given to those who consider how we might respond artistically to contemporary concerns such as the rise of AI in different spheres of life, including but not limited to: love, education, medicine, architecture, religion, and the creative arts. This conference intends to bring together graduate students interested in creatively addressing the way art may provide a vantage point through which we can better respond to technological transformation. Appropriations of the history of philosophy concerning art or technology to better understand pressing issues of our time are also welcome. We will also be happy to consider artistic works at the intersection of art and technology for display and discussion.
Participants will be invited to give a 20-minute presentation, provide feedback to other participants, and attend the conference keynote and dinner. The remaining time will be dedicated to questions and open discussion. Registration is free and the UK Philosophy Graduate Student Association will provide lunch and dinner.
