The University of Kentucky's Department of Philosophy offers a course of study leading to the doctoral degree in philosophy (Ph.D.). Masters degrees (M.A.) are typically earned along the way to completion of the Ph.D. Only rarely do we accept students who aim at a terminal MA degree. Only Ph.D. students receive funding (contingent upon satisfactory progress).
The minimum requirements for admission to the graduate program in Philosophy are:
- Proof of completion of a B.A., B.S., or M.A.
- Evidence of superior skills on the GRE
- An overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate work and, an overall GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in all graduate work (if appilcable).
