Socially Engaged Philosophy of Science in the Middle States
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Sean Valles, Michigan State University
What relationships should we seek to nuture between philosophy and the sciences in the 21st century and beyond? What lessons can be gleaned from collaborations between philosophers and scientists? How can philosophy of science be used to address pressing social problems of concern to the mid-south and "middle states," including the opioid epidemic, the role of coal in the energy crisis, and the future of transportation?
This two-day conference at the University of Kentucky will bring together philosophers and scientists working in the middle regions of the United States in order to foster discussion about these and other topics.
